We were wild about oats nearly 100 years ago when this gold medal was presented to John Paterson for his delicious oatcakes. He received it in 1911 at the Glasgow Grocers' Exhibition. Today, our oatcakes are still winning awards - see below.

Environmental accolade for palm oil work

We are pleased to report that our continuing efforts to combat the use of palm oil industry have been recognised by the Parliament. Paterson Arran has received a Wiggin Award for sustainable palm oil, (WASPO) from MP Bill Wiggin, Shadow Minister for Agriculture & Fisheries.

The award recognises businesses that are working to address this increasingly serious environmental issues surrounding palm oil.

Commenting on the award, MP Bill Wiggin, said: “The growth of palm oil plantations and the subsequent destruction of rainforests are threatening to make Orangutans extinct within five years. In promoting Orangutan friendly produce, Paterson Arran has made an important contribution to the survival of the species.”

Alan Hardie, Paterson’s MD added: “Receiving this WASPO award shows that the work we are doing to tackle this environmental crisis is making a difference, we’re noticing that own label is quietly converting to alternative oils and we’re receiving a positive response to our palm oil free work from the industry and consumers.”
