Paterson's Wild About Oats
Delicious and nutritious
Paterson's have been perfecting the humble oatcake since 1895 when John Paterson would sell all the homebaked oatcakes his wife could produce from a horse drawn van driven around Rutherglen. A lot has changed since then, of course. We're still baking our oatcakes in the same traditional way – slowly, over an open gas flame using a recipe containing 84% oats – only now there's a modern, healthy twist to the Paterson's tale.
Today's wheat free recipe is also low in saturated fat (thanks to olive oil) and high in fibre, making Paterson's the most delicious and nutritious oatcakes you can enjoy.
Our oatcake range is also completely free from palm oil so are orang-utan friendly! Did you know that vast amounts of their rainforests are being detroyed to make way for palm oil plantations? They could face extinction in as little as 20 years! Due to this we are proud to be lifetime members of the Orang-utan Foundation.

Palm oil is found in one in five supermarket products including biscuits, and with demand largely driven by western countries, manufacturers and consumers have a responsibility to take immediate action by switching to palm oil free alternatives. Paterson Arran is aiming to be palm oil free and as a business we are fully committed to this goal.
Also, at Paterson Arran we care about the environment and are committed to achieving sustainability across our business to improve effectiveness and help protect the planet for future generations. To read the latest update please click here.
